Cajole

Defined as "to persuade in the face of reluctance", we refer to the proposal or challenge presented on our platform as "the Cajole".

Campaign

The campaign is where a Cajole is presented to the world. Backers can choose to back a campaign while it's active in exchange for perks and, if eligible, leaderboard perks.

Campaign Goal

The campaign goal is the initial amount of money the creator believes it will take to have a target accept an offer to be cajoled.

Target

This would be the target of a campaign. They can be known personalities or everyday people. The target is the person or entity that will complete the challenge they are being presented with.

Creator

This is the person who had the idea for the Cajole and who creates the campaign.

Backer

This is anyone who supports the campaign by buying perks or leaderboard perks. Backers do this because they mostly want to see the target complete their Cajoles.

Fee Recipient

While targets may be persuaded by money to accept a Cajole, some may be more persuaded to say yes if the money went to charity instead. So sometimes the fee recipient may be a charity instead of the target themselves. This is set by the creator of the campaign. Targets may also decide to let a charity receive the money if the creator had selected the target to be the fee recipient.

Stretch Goals

Stretch Goals are a way to incentivize people to keep backing a campaign after achieving the initial goal by adding more conditions to the original offer.

With Stretch Goals, you can add up to 3 more goal tiers. For example, you can set a Stretch Goal that states if $5,000 is achieved beyond the initial goal, then the target must agree to do something additional. Like wear a silly hat!

Leaderboard

This is a way to track who the top spenders are for any given campaign. People who make it on to the Leaderboard may receive Leaderboard perks if the campaign has set any.

Leaderboard Perks

Campaign creators can incentivize backers to spend more of a cajole by offering non-physical perks for a subset of backers. The categories of spending which may be set to receive Leaderboard perks are:

  • Highest amount spent

  • Top 10 backers

  • Top 5% of backers

  • Anyone who spends over a set amount

Perks

All backers of a campaign are purchasing perks in exchange for their support. These perks include advance access to watch campaign targets complete their cajole before the general public, as well as trophies which can be found in their user profile.

Dueling Campaign

A dueling campaign is created when someone wants to challenge an active cajole campaign. Users can create a dueling campaign when they want to give the target of the original campaign a chance to do the opposite or an alternative of what they are currently being offered. These campaigns can easily be created by clicking the "Start A Dueling Campaign" button found on every campaign page.

Note: You may not start a dueling campaign if you are the target of the original campaign, per our rules and community guidelines.

Let it Ride Campaign

If a campaign target declines a Cajole, creators have the option to "let it ride". This means they can make one more attempt to gather more backers and present the target more incentive to accept the Cajole. (Dueling Campaigns are unable to Let it Ride).

Open Call Campaign

When creators and backers decide they want to see anybody complete a Cajole, this feature allows a Cajole to be targeted towards anyone who is willing to complete the challenge. After an Open Call campaign ends, anyone can apply to accept the Cajole.
