How do I delete my Cajole account?

We've made deletion straightforward, with safety built in.

The flow

  1. Go to account settings → "Delete my account."

  2. A two-step modal walks you through what gets erased and what stays.

  3. Confirm by typing DELETE.

  4. We schedule your deletion for 7 days from now and send you a confirmation email.

The 7-day cool-off

For 7 days, you can sign in and cancel the deletion from the banner that appears at the top of every page. Nothing is erased yet — your profile just shows as private to others while you decide.

What gets erased after 7 days

Your name, email, password, photo, bio, phone, and social handles are permanently cleared. Your username is released and locked from re-use for 30 days (so a stranger can't immediately grab it). You can no longer sign in.

What stays

Campaigns you created, were the target of, or collaborated on remain part of the public record. The name you had on those campaigns at the moment of deletion is preserved as a historical record — so the page stays readable and others can still understand who was involved. Comments, backings, and other contributions stay too, but show you as anonymous. Transaction records (for tax and audit purposes) are retained as required by law, typically 7 years.

If deletion is blocked

Some campaigns can't be left mid-cycle. If you're a creator or target on an active campaign, scheduled campaign, or one waiting on target/proof — you'll see those listed in the deletion modal. You'll need to wait for them to finish (or contact [email protected] if you can't cancel them yourself) before you can delete.
