How do I delete my Cajole account?

We’ve made deletion straightforward, with safety built in.

The flow

1. Go to account settings → “Delete my account.”

2. A two-step modal walks you through what gets erased and what stays.

3. Confirm by typing DELETE.

4. We schedule your deletion for 7 days from now and send you a confirmation email.

The 7-day cool-off

For 7 days, you can sign in and cancel the deletion from the banner that appears at the top of every page. Nothing is erased yet — your profile just shows as private to others while you decide.

What gets erased after 7 days

Your name, email, password, photo, bio, phone, and social handles are permanently cleared. Your username is released and locked from re-use for 30 days (so a stranger can’t immediately grab it). You can no longer sign in.

What stays

Campaigns you created, Cajoles you accepted, comments, and backings remain part of the public record — but your name on them is replaced with “user retired”. Transaction records (for tax and audit purposes) are retained as required by law, typically 7 years.

If deletion is blocked

Some campaigns can’t be left mid-cycle. If you’re a creator or target on an active campaign, scheduled campaign, or one waiting on target/proof — you’ll see those listed in the deletion modal. You’ll need to wait for them to finish (or contact [email protected] if you can’t cancel them yourself) before you can delete.
