Trust and accountability

Updated over 9 months ago

Our mission

Cajole's mission is to see what people are willing to do for the right price.

In that regard, we make an effort to provide a safe and reliable platform where creators can propose what they would like to see, and where backers can come across and join all types of campaigns.

This requires trust in each other and in our platform, so we’ve laid out the responsibilities and information each of us needs in order to use this platform.

Here’s an overview:

  • It’s Cajole's responsibility to provide a safe and reliable platform for all of our users.

  • It’s the creator’s responsibility to bring a project to life and coordinate the leaderboard perks they promise to backers.

  • It’s the backer’s responsibility to determine whether to back a project. When they do, they do so by purchasing advance access to see the fruits of a campaign, regardless of the campaign's outcome.

  • Leaderboard perks aren’t guaranteed by Cajole or the creator. They are proposed to the targets of a campaign, and in the event they aren't able to be fulfilled, will be refunded to backers by the terms of Cajole's Refund Policy.

Cajole's responsibilities

Cajole is responsible for providing a safe and reliable platform for our users.

This includes creating clear rules and community guidlines for creators and backers who use Cajole, and monitoring our site for compliance with those rules. When we learn of users or projects that are violating our Terms and Conditions, it’s our job to take action by removing content and/or restricting user access.

We do not assess the viability of a creator’s Cajole, monitor how creators communicate with backers, or reimburse backers if backers feel their purchase didn't live up to their expectations.

To build trust, we encourage open communication between creators, backers, and Cajole.

What Cajole and backers expect from creators

Creators are responsible for following our rules and community guidelines and fulfilling their promises to backers (as outlined in our Terms and Conditions).

This includes providing backers with a high standard of honest communication throughout the campaign process, and protecting backers’ personal information.

Creators must also coordinate and/or deliver leaderboard perks as promised. If leaderboard perks aren't achievable, they must provide backers with a clear, honest explanation detailing why these perks could not be fulfilled. Creators owe this to the people who have shown their Cajole support.

Unlike sellers on eCommerce sites, creators on Cajole do not automatically breach their contract with backers if they do not fulfill their campaign promises and provide users with a full or partial refund. However, if a creator fails to communicate progress updates or delays, does not address backer questions or concerns, or otherwise breaches their agreement with backers, the creator may be subject to legal action from backers.

Creators are also expected to follow our platform rules and use extreme caution when inviting collaborators or other third parties to participate in their projects. We hold creators accountable for the misuse of their accounts, and may suspend or terminate their access.

What Cajole and creators expect from backers

Backers are responsible for scrutinizing campaigns, reporting site violations, and, when they choose to back a project, backing that project, regardless of the outcome.

Cajole provides backers with an opportunity to help turn proposals into reality through their purchases. By doing that, backers are telling the creator they think their proposal is worth seeing—and they may even be helping to make culture-shaping or world-changing proposals a reality. They are also taking a risk, and it’s important they do it knowingly. Unlike items on an eCommerce site, Cajole's are not finished products. It is the responsibility of all backers to thoroughly review the Terms and Conditions, and understand the target of a campaign still needs to be persuaded to accept an offer from Cajole.

Commenting is only available to backers, and shall do so in accordance with Cajole's rules and community guidelines. If backers observe or experience any violations of our rules, our terms, or abusive content or behavior, we expect them to report those to us (there are report buttons throughout the site), so that we can take appropriate action.
