Is Cajole a crowdfunding site?

Updated over 9 months ago

We are often asked, is Cajole a crowdfunding site?

We are not, actually, even though we may seem like we function in similar ways to other sites you are familiar with.

In crowdfunding, an escrow account is used to store money up until a crowdfunding campaign is completed, so that the funds can be transferred to the fundraiser.

Cajole is a an event production, event promotion, and media company that sells advance access to the content generated by the events we produce and promote.

Users are not donating, fundraising, or giving their money on our platform. They are purchasing exclusive access to watch a Cajole be attempted or completed in-person, via an exclusive stream hosted on the sites or other video hosting platforms before the general public, as well as digital trophies which will be visible on their user profile.

If a Cajole is unsuccessful, Backers keep the access they've purchased and can apply it towards any other active campaign on our site with Cajole credits. (For more on why we do this, click here).

For backers who made their payment via direct deposit, they may be entitled to have their payment returned provided it is to the same account they used to send their payment. We cannot return payment to a separate account than it was received from.

Backers may reach out to Support to request this as the end of a failed campaign.

Transaction fees taken from the initial purchase will not be returned. Any ACH processing fees for returning a payment will also be deducted from the returned amount.

More information on this can be found in our Refund Policy.
